Hailing from Amsterdam, Waking the Dead set the evening in motion with their blend of thrashy hardcore and metal as the band continues to support a handful of releases on Dead Area Records. D.R.I. hit the stage next with their usual lewd humor and snarky cynicism that helped to pick up the energy of the evening. The metal and thrash Gods once again smiled on Philly as ABSU, Vektor, and Pissgrave tore The Millcreek Tavern venue a new one earlier this month.
Pissgrave started the night with their infectious blend of blackened thrash as this band just keeps getting better. Pissgrave welcomed a second guitarist since we last covered them, as well as, the new implementation of death boxes on the vocals. We approve. Both nice touches. Pissgrave is turning a lot heads and generating a solid buzz in the area and we must agree, it's for good reason.
It was great to see the boys in Vektor back at the top of their game after a barrage of ...
