Short-lived, but highly influential Massachusetts hardcore punk band, Siege are gearing up for a set of US reunion dates. Originally active in the Boston hardcore scene circa 1984, Siege are one of the major influences in the overarching grindcore and powerviolence sound adopted by countless bands over the subsequent decades. Dropdead, who will play with the band July 9 at AS220, took its name from Siege’s six-song demo. And even mainstays Napalm Death have cited Siege as an influence. Original vocalist Kevin Mahoney and his replacement Seth Putnam both passed away in 2011, thus making this the first trek without either behind the mic. Siege’s ...

Portishead remember Jo Cox, the recently murdered Labour politician in their home country of Britain, with the release of a stark music video covering ABBA's 'SOS'.
The new video was released yesterday on what would have been the late MP's 42nd birthday. Cox, the Labour MP for Batley and Spen, was slain last Thursday outside Birstall public library and was declared dead less than one hour after being shot three times and repeatedly stabbed. A 77 year-old man was also stabbed trying to stop the attack. Cox leaves behind a loving husband and children.
Portishead's video carries the hashtag #MoreInCommon, in reference to Cox's now celebrated beliefs. ...

Miami grind unit Shitstorm are unquestionably one of the most punishing grind forces currently active with the band's new split release with Radiation serving as a latest punctuation mark. Utilizing a guitar distortion and presence to make blood boil, melded with a spine-shaking drum fury of laser-like blasts that stop and go on a dime, sprinkle in meaty bass riffs, and slather in completely irate vocal attacks from front to back...We're talking proper grindcore.
Shitstorm's prior splits with Conga Fury and Magrudergrind, coupled with band's 2009 Paranoid Existence full-length, has etched an uncompromising niche in the walls of grindcore. Complimented by an explosive live offering, ...

We have a deep love of Chicago's grind masters, Sick/Tired who offer up some of the most deliciously brutal aural assaults this side of the Mississippi. Focused and full of rage, this latest split sees the band pushing their own sonic limits with blazing blasts matched by moody sludge-drenched riffs seeing this amalgamation sit somewhere between crusty grind, fast punk, and powerviolence. In short- This split fucking rules. And having some of extreme music's best recording technicians doesn't hurt either with recording by Andy Nelson at his Bricktop studios (Weekend Nachos, Dead In The Dirt), mix by Kevin Bernsten at his Developing Nations studios (Full Of Hell, Triac, Magrudergrind), and ...

One of extreme music's most distinctive modern acts, Magrudergrind, returns after a 6-year hiatus with the new album II. Recorded with producer Kurt Ballou (Converge, High on Fire, Torche) at God City Studios and mastered by Brad Boatright (Obituary, Nails), II continues developing the trio's punishing hybrid of grindcore, powerviolence and hardcore punk across 15 tracks of blistering sonic warfare. II is unquestionably Magrudergrind's most crushing and abrasive material to date, a savage manifesto of scathing political and personal revolution.

The crushing title track to the mighty third LP by Seattle's Black Breath, Slaves Beyond Death, has just been issued as the first single from the highly anticipated album through an exclusive premiere at Noisey as the album nears release through Southern Lord late in September.
Arriving three years after the band's 2012-released Sentenced To Life, a revered album of morbid metal anthems laced with a deadly allure that few could resist, it's safe to say that Slaves Beyond Death represents a harder, bleaker Black Breath than ever before. With every track on the record surpassing the five-minute mark, and several of them close ...

In addition, a CD version of the record will see release via The Compound and Selfmadegod Records this Winter.
Die Choking's mission to perpetually surpass their own boundaries is realized with damaging proof on their III debut LP. Stripped of overproduction and performed with devastating efficiency, III drips with a foul aggression that is frequently absent in today's extreme music landscape, with no samples or triggers utilized in the recording and mixing process. The songwriting of ...
