Enjoy an exclusive photo review of Zozobra, Kowloon Walled City, and Sadgiqacea as this rock trifecta recently crusied through The Barbary in Philly’s Northern Liberties neighborhood, presented by Brutal Panda Records and Invisible Oranges.
Sadgiqacea (pronounced sad-juh-kay-sha) kicked off the evening with their patented blend of dense, psychedelic-influenced metal that has seen comparisons to Neurosis and Intronaut, as the duo supports a critically acclaimed debut album, False Prism, available now via Candlelight in CD format with Anthropic Records handling the limited vinyl distro.
San Francisco’s Kowloon Walled City, made this tour run its first set of East Coast appearances since the release of acclaimed sophomore album, Container Ships, which is also currently available through Brutal Panda Records. Striking guitar progressions and a relentless rhythm section are the theme of the day with Kowloon Walled City combining elements of sludge, post-rock and indie rock to create a engaging set reinforced with a solid studio catalogue.
Brainchild of Caleb Scofield (Cave In, Old Man Gloom), Boston, MA’s Zozobra are currently supporting new album Savage Masters, which hit streets in April via Brutal Panda. This first studio effort in five years was produced and recorded by Andrew Schneider (Unsane, Pelican) and features long-time Cave In bandmates Adam McGrath (guitars) and J.R. Conners (drums). Needless to say, this showcase of talents was pummeling from front to back with the poise one would expect from such a veteran batch of musicians. As always, we’ve included links to all the bands, please support them by purchasing music and merch.
