Strike Anywhere, A Wilhelm Scream, The Copyrights, One Win Choice Gallery
Richmond VA’s political punk rock veterans, Strike Anywhere plowed through The Barbary in Philly’s Northern Liberties neighborhood last Friday for a jam-packed show rounded out by A Wilhelm Scream, The Copyrights, and One Win Choice. Having recently relocated to Philadelphia from NJ, One Win Choice have been making waves throughout the punk community with steady touring that has taken them on several US and European tours alike. We recently caught up with the band for a full-feature interview touching on the colorful history of this East Coast mainstay. The Copyrights zipped in from Carbondale, IL and brought their catchy, driving, punk-rock vibes for a cluster of adoring fans who mouthed almost every word to their 25 minute set. I must admit, A Wilhelm Scream is a band I have slept on for years, but after their impassioned performance on Friday, I would not hesitate to recommend you catch them in your city. From the hilarious mic checks, “Vic 1, Vic 2,…” through the running Michael Vic commentary and into an inspired performance, A Wilhelm Scream sustained a frenetic response from the audience with an absolutely bulletproof set. This a band that clearly loves what they do and have hit a musical stride unattainable by most acts today. Strike Anywhere hit the stage next with the kind of poise one would expect from a band that has been slaying clubs the World-over for 13 years. Their timely political themes were as impassioned as ever, while they treated fans to classic material and new songs from their latest LP on Bridge 9 Records, Iron Front. It’s safe to say, no one left The Barbary disappointed. We know you are here for the pictures, so without further ado..
