MADE Fest Philly 2013 in Photos
MADE Fest 2013 recently brought together a stellar group of DIY vendors specializing in food, art, crafts, kitsch, and more to Philly’s Rotunda venue for one of the raddest arts and crafts shows we’ve ever seen.
Explicitly not a flea market, with a mission statement that read, “A loosely juried DIY Fest focusing on giving an outlet to as many flavors of DIY as possible,” this DIY event had more unique art, food, clothes, make-up, decorations, crafts, and DIY themes than we could cover in any reasonable write-up. From hand-made dolls, clothes, tiles, lights, blankets, scarves, vegan make-up, jewelry, and paintings, it was hard not to buy everything. In a world of industrial replication that is often far removed from the fabricators leading to identical and often meaningless shopping experiences, this MADE FEST was truly something special.
There is something to be said for the experience of perusing one’s hand-made goods, only to speak with the fabricator and learn about the process and individualization that comes which each unique display. The goods varied as much as the personalities for one of the funnest events we’ve covered all year.
Blow The Scene‘s Joshua T. Cohen documented the experience with his trusty camera for an massive extened gallery below.
