Siege: Influential Boston Hardcore Punk band reunited for US dates
Short-lived, but highly influential Massachusetts hardcore punk band, Siege are gearing up for a set of US reunion dates. Originally active in the Boston hardcore scene circa 1984, Siege are one of the major influences in the overarching grindcore and powerviolence sound adopted by countless bands over the subsequent decades. Dropdead, who will play with the band July 9 at AS220, took its name from Siege’s six-song demo. And even mainstays Napalm Death have cited Siege as an influence. Original vocalist Kevin Mahoney and his replacement Seth Putnam both passed away in 2011, thus making this the first trek without either behind the mic. Siege’s lineup now includes Chris Leamy (Brain Famine and Japanese Torture Comedy Hour) and vocalist Mark Fields of Proclamation (Bridge 9). Robert Williams of Siege & Chris Dodge of Infest recently spoke to Decibel Magazine about reuniting. More dates, including a NYC show in August are TBA soon.
