Agoraphobic Nosebleed / A.N.S. Tribute to Gang Green

ANS Agoraphobic Nosebleed A Tribute to Gang Green Split Cover

One of our favorite labels, Bay Area’s Tankcrimes, just dropped THE cover E.P. of 2010. Agoraphobic Nosebleed / A.N.S. Tribute to Gang Green Split 5″ and they were kind enough to send over 3 tracks for your listening pleasure! Two killer bands pay tribute to another. Art by Tallboy and production/mastering by Scott Hull.

Limited to 100 copies on “coke white”, 300 on “gin clear”, and 600 on “Beer/Piss yellow”.

First run is almost entirely sold out and a second pressing is already underway.

For those not familiar with Tankcrimes, we did an in depth interview with owner/founder Scotty Heath recently. Tankcrimes has remained one of the premiere underground labels of the West Coast having dropped releases over the past decade from the likes of Annihilation Time, Voetsek, Toxic Holocaust, Vitamin X, Population Reduction, and Cannabis Corpse, to name a few.

A.N.S. released their latest full-length, Pressure Cracks on Tankcrimes in 2009 with streaming tracks available at the A.N.S Myspace Profile. With musicians assembled from all over the US, A.N.S carry the torch for those inspired by Black Flag-era punk rock. You’d be hard pressed to find a punk release in the last 5 years as solid as Pressure Cracks.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed is an American grindcore staple. Having formed in New England in 1994, the only consistent member has been Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Japanese Torture Comedy Hour, Anal Cunt) with various musicians complimenting dozens of split releases over the past two decades. The band’s latest full-length, Agorapocalypse was released in 2009 on Relapse Records and reached heights few of their grind contemporaries have seen. Agorapocalypse sold around 1,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release, and peaked at number 41 on the Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart. With this release, ANb slowed down their patented ultra-speedy drum machine production and threw back to the thrashcore sounds of the 80s. Track length began to creep up from 40 seconds to 2 and 3 minute songs with varying tempos. Reviews for Agorapocalypse were mixed, as some hoped to see the band continue the other-worldly computer generated speed drumming of Scott Hull, while others openly embraced the diversity. No matter your musical preference, ANb can always be counted on to mix things up with each new release and the Agoraphobic Nosebleed / A.N.S. Tribute to Gang Green Split 5″ is no exception. You can sample ANb tracks at their official Myspace profile.

This limited vinyl is a must for fans of A.N.S., Agoraphobic Nosebleed, and of course, the mighty GANG GREEN.

Tankcrimes was kind enough to send us 3 tracks of the 5″ for your listening pleasure. Enjoy.
