Portland, Oregon doom duo, The Body hit Philly’s Kung Fu Necktie venue on a recent tour supporting the band’s new and fourth overall LP, I Shall Die Here as local acts Bardus, Heathen Reign, and Hound rounded out the bill.
Released via RVNG Intl. on April 1, I Shall Die Here is being hailed as a standout work for The Body with Allmusic commenting on the effort stating, “I Shall Die Here is an album that isn’t so much challenging as terrifying, making for a listening experience (and it is most certainly an experience) that requires more nerve than patience. The listener doesn’t explore the album’s frenzied sense of existential dread, they test themselves against it, standing alone against the inevitable to see how close to the edge they can come without falling into the crushing nothingness the Body wield with all the elegance of a rusty sledgehammer.” Needless to say, despite some technical difficulties, The Body proceeded to all but melt the speakers with a mesmerizing set that left this Philly crowd eager for more.
