British crust punk legends Doom recently lit up Philly’s Kung Fu Necktie venue with local heavy hitters Plague Dogs and Oakland, CA’s Lecherous Gaze in tow. The UK crusties are supporting an 8th studio full length, Corrupt Fucking System, that hit streets via Black Cloud Records at the tail end of December in 2013. After the untimely loss of longtime vocalist Wayne Southworth to an epileptic seizure in 2005, Doom have pushed forward with Denis Boardman (ex-Blood Sucking Freaks) holding down that Doom house sound. Longtime fans and critics have hailed this latest effort with CVLT Nation stating, “In our world of glossy photoshopped images, slogans and doublespeak which slap you from every bus, billboard and screen, it is refreshing how the colors of the real world seem very alive when listening to something with a pungent vision of poverty, religious disease and global consumption. Monolithic and powerful, yet unembellished. This is another great album from Doom.”
Lecherous Gaze, the Tee Pee Records recording artists described as ‘psycho-delic, shred-tastic, ultra-hyphened, rock-punk, heavy jams’ and Philly hometown heroes, Plague Dogs rounded out this evening of blistering tunes.
