The only current touring band most longtime fans of early Black Flag would consider the real thing- FLAG ripped through Philly’s Trocadero Theater on singer Keith Morris‘s 58th birthday. BTS is kicking off a weekend of photo galleries with this special occasion as Morris was joined by Chuck Dukowski, Dez Cadena, Bill Stevenson, and Stephen Egerton for what proved to be a rare reunion show worth seeing in 2013. TSOL joined in the celebration complete with ample sing-alongs and mid-show birthday cupcakes for Morris who was clearly amused by the proceedings.
When asked in recent interview with The Austin Chronicle as to the future of FLAG, Morris responded:
“Here’s what’s happening: Chuck has the CD6, and he’s going to continue [with that]. He’s recorded an EP and he’s going to put that out, and they’re going to go play some shows on that. The Descendents have a new record coming out. They’re obviously going to be going out and playing, backing that up and promoting it. Billy’s got a very important band coming into his studio. They just blocked out three months of time in his studio. That pays a major portion of his bills, so he can’t turn that down..
Me, I’m about three-fourths of the way through a new OFF! record. Dimitri [Coates, OFF! guitarist] and I are writing a new OFF! record.
The next Flag show is Fun Fun Fun Fest, and then that’s it for us for awhile. It’s time for us to pick up where we left off with our other bands.”
