Norway’s shred masters, Obliteration recently descended upon Philadelphia’s Kung Fu Necktie venue for a devastating show rounded out by Fantom Warior and Philly’s own Casket.
Obilteration, who since 2001 have made tidal waves across the death metal scene via a string of releases in conjunction with several well respected labels, including 2009’s Nekropsalms on Fysisk Format. Nekropsalms would go on to receive rave reviews from Norwegian critics including several “Album Of The Year” nods.
Obliteration is currently supporting its latest full-length, Black Death Horizon, available via Indie Recordings. Cvlt Nation commented on the effort saying, “The influences from both the European death metal bands and the American scene are present. To put it mildly, if the hair at the back of your neck stands straight when you listen to Autopsy and Dismember then this release is definitely for you.. If you live and breathe for old school extreme metal, then this is an album you should not miss. Even the fucking outro..”
Obliteration‘s performance on this particular night only punctuated this sentiment. A packed house went berserk throughout a poignant display of Norwegian death metal. Philly decimators, Casket got the game in motion before Fantom Warior rounded out the bill.
