Winnipeg’s leading sons of compelling punk rock and hardcore Propagandhi and Comeback Kid recently brought the collective thunder to Philadelphia’s Union Transfer venue by way of R5 productions and the bands’ current US and Canadian tour. Local support was rounded out by punk rock mainstays, One Win Choice, who after more than a decade together, are winding down with this performance being one of a handful of farewell dates. A final One Win Choice performance is set to take place in Gainesville, FL at this year’s The Fest 11 on October 26th. For this Philadelphia stop on the journey, Blow The Scene was on hand to capture exclusive photo galleries of all of the guilty parties plus video interviews with Comeback Kid and One Win Choice, which can be viewed in the YouTube players below.
With over 25 years of authentic, political, and intricate punk-infused rock under their belts, the members of Propaghandhi are currently touring in support of their latest full-length, Failed States, which hit streets via Epitaph Records in September. Even though Failed States is a departure from anything in the band’s corpus, fans and critics have embraced this new studio work with open arms. Exclaim! Magazine stated, “Never ones to make the same album twice, Winnipeg, MB punks Propagandhi have followed up 2009’s Supporting Caste with a record that sounds like an entirely different band. While that disc had a lot of controlled, smooth melodic punk on it, this one is filled with chaos ― unhinged, metallic guitar work flying off of drums that are no longer on the map, in terms of frantic playing..This is easily one of their best albums, which is no small feat six albums into such an illustrious career.” Propagandhi proceeded to melt faces with an unrelenting set that saw the crowd ripple with energy as the band blasted through a wide swath of material spanning their vast catalog of tunes.
Hardcore heavyweights Comeback Kid have maintained a vigorous touring schedule for the better part of the band’s decade-long career and have honed a razor sharp performance that was evidenced by a hearty following of fans who made their way out early to catch the band in action. Comeback Kid continue to tour in support of their latest full-length on Victory Records, Symptoms + Cures, which hit streets in 2010. We caught up with founding member and guitarist Jeremy Hiebert for an exclusive interview before the show that can be viewed in the YouTube player below. Jeremy shares insight into the making of this current tour with Propagandhi, being a vegan on road, future plans with CBK, and more.
