Socal punk rockers and Ipecac recording artists, Retox, recently stopped by Philly’s Trocadero Balcony venue with DC hardcore punk band, Regents, and Southeastern, PA newcomers, Pugilist.
Retox are coming off a stint of spring shows with Jello Biafra, OFF!, and Narrows as the band continues to support its 2011 debut on Ipecac, Ugly Animals. A sparse crowd didn’t damper the energy as these road veterans who have played in such bands as The Locust, Cattle Decapitation, and Some Girls, packed a solid punch. Short and poignant with its delivery, Retox maintains a blistering pace with its patented metallic punk rock flavorings, always providing an engaging live performance.
DC’s Regents are also coming off a busy Spring having seen the video premiere for song “Cinder Machine” by AltPress, taken from the band’s latest 7″ on Lovitt Records, that coincided with appearances at SXSW.
Regents recently announced the band will be catching up with Planes Mistaken by Stars for a stint of shows in mid August. Featuring members of Men’s Recovery Project, Battery, Thursday and Combat Wounded Veteran, Regents‘ Drew Ringo told Grammys.com in an interview during their appearance at this year’s SXSW, “We’re much more into the experience of kind of going back to where we were 20 years ago — playing in basements for kids who are just going to go nuts and it’s really fun to do that in new countries and new places because they’re so hungry.”
Local band Pugilist rounded out the performance as our faithful Senior Staff Photographer, Dante Torrieri (Useless Rebel Imaging) was on hand to deliver another dense photo gallery for your viewing pleasure.
