Philly’s Underground Arts venue played host to the mighty Red Fang along with musical cohorts Cancer Bats, The Shrine, and Indian Handcrafts for an evening of walloping metal performances captured by BTS Senior Photographer Dante Torrieri.
Red Fang are having quite the run in 2013 with newest effort Whales and Leeches, released October 15th on Relapse Records, debuting at #66 on the Billboard Album Chart, marking the group’s highest sales week and first debut in the Top 200. Let’s not forget a new music video debut at Rolling Stone with Portlandia star Fred Armisen, plus a scheduled appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman for Friday, January 10. 2014 is looking nothing but up for Red Fang.
Cancer Bats were no slouches in 2013 either with a special re-issue of Dead Set Set On Living on Hassle Records featuring four previously unreleased tracks plus the band’s alter-ego Bat Sabbath recorded for the first time releasing Bastards of Reality on Metal Blade Records. This current tour outing followed the Fall’s Double Header Bat Madness Tour where the band performed two full sets every night, one as Cancer Bats and one as Bat Sabbath.
The psychedelic, surf-tinged rockers in The Shrine and thundering two-piece outfit, Indian Handcrafts rounded out what proved to be a solid live package from front to back.
We’ve included listening samples below of all the gulty parties so be sure to support and purchase music from these fine bands if you dig what you are hearing.
