One of our favorite comedians, Brian Posehn, treated Philly fans to an intimate performace at The Trocadero last Thursday night with special guest Jeremy Essig.
Posehn, who you may recognize from his prolific career as a comedian, actor, musician, and ultimate metal-nerd, is currently on tour in support of his most recent album Fart and Wiener Jokes available via Relapse Records.
Posehn launched his career doing stand up comedy and after garnering a cult-like niche following, he landed a multitude of TV show appearances. Posehn became something of a nerd icon with TV appearances and writing for HBO’s Mr. Show with Bob and David, Seinfield, NBC’s Just Shoot Me!, The Sarah Silverman Program, Reno 911, and he was featured on one of my all-time favs- the 2005 documentary series The Comedians of Comedy on Comedy Central and Showtime. Posehn has appeared in dozens of hit movies including The Devil’s Rejects, Sleeping Dogs Lie, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Silverman: Jesus Is Magic, to name a few.
In 2006, Relapse Records released Posehn‘s first album, Live In: Nerd Rage, including “Metal by Numbers”, and accompanying music video featuring musicians Scott Ian (Anthrax), bassist Joey Vera (Anthrax), drummer John Tempesta (The Cult, White Zombie), and lead guitarist Jonathan Donais (Shadows Fall). On his current tour run, Posehn is touching on many of the themes featured within Fart and Wiener Jokes, including being a new dad, not wanting his baby to get punched in the face, his performance at the Meeting of the Juggalos, masturbation, wieners, and meeting strange new friends at shows.
