Some of the most exciting up-and-coming talents in the hardcore scene made a weekend of it February 8th and 9th, starting with a showcase bill at O’Reiley’s in Philadelphia with Cruel Hand, Strength For A Reason, The Prime Directive, Lifeless, not to mention the record release shows of Six Feet Under label-mates, The Mongoloids and Agitator.
Maine’s favorite sons of heavy-handed hardcore, Cruel Hand, had the honors of headlining this intense billing. The Bridge Nine mainstays are no strangers to Philly having supported 2010’s Lock & Key with number of high-profile appearances including the annual This Is Hardcore Fest. The band has a new 7″ coming out this Spring on Triple B Records that will feature 2 new songs. This release is limited to a strict one-time pressing of 1000 copies. Pre-orders are up now.
As mentioned in the above, local boys in Agitator made this a special one with early copies of their debut LP, Bleak, which is available via Six Feet Under Records in limited colors and special test presses. Always full of angst and energy, the new songs translated into some raucous floor action as the band tore through some choice selections of old and new.
NJ neighbors, The Mongoloids, also have their Six Feet Under debut coming in April, in addition to a special 7″ one-off of song “Room To Grow” that Alternative Press had the honors of streaming earlier in the month. The band was still waiting for some records to arrive at showtime, but this in no dampened spirits or live presence.
Stillborn Records Recording artists, and Nanticoke, Pa’s hardcore titans, Strength For A Reason made an appearance as the band continues to track an untitled forthcoming effort this week. A few teaser pictures from the studio recording sessions have appeared on the band’s facebook profile. Harvcore Records‘ recording artists, Lifeless are coming out of a hiatus of sorts as the band prepares to release a new EP that was recording in 2012. PA’s doom-riddled newcomers, Outer Heaven rounded out what was yet another exciting show of aggressive music brought to you by Joe “Hardcore” McKay and Philly Hardcore Shows booking group.
