American black metal outfit Abigail Williams kicked off 2012 with a serious bang having just released their third studio album Becoming on Candlelight Records while embarking on a long series of tour dates including their current headlining US run followed by a supporting tour with death metal mainstays, Deicide. It could have been a downer month for the band, as their January tour with Dark Funeral was canceled just a couple of weeks before kickoff. The band made the best of bad situation by taking the time to extend their current headlining tour instead of packing it in.
The organic style of Becoming offers stark contrast to previous Abigail Williams releases, bearing six vast tracks of their most expressive and complicated material to date. Becoming was recorded in various warehouses throughout Los Angeles, with the lineup for the album including returning guitarist Ian Jekelis, studio drummer Zach Gibson (ex-The Black Dahlia Murder) and as always, vocalist/guitarist Ken Sorceron, who handled all mixing, mastering, production and engineering duties.
Our magnificently talented photographer, Dante Torrieri caught up with the band as they passed through Philadelphia’s Kung Fu Necktie venue last week with Anglecrust and Immolith who rounded out the show. We know you are here for the pictures, so without further ado..
