Northern Cali’s Drain the Sky along with Memphis’s River City No Comply, rolled through Philly on April 19, 2011 at local South Philly punk staple JR’s, as part of their week-long East Coast Tour. One of our local favorites, Philly d-beat/distort punks Nightfall and grind duo My Nation Underground also played. Drain the Sky consist of a hardcore/punk veterans including bassist Carl Auge (ex His Hero is Gone) who “collaborate to create visceral, atmospheric, threatening music that seeks to collapse (musical and other) boundaries.” River City No Comply offer up some grimy, thrashy punk songs, incorporating movements of ambiance and rock n’ roll to compliment some Memphis attitude. We found out about this show last minute and apparently this one slipped under the radar, as the few people that showed up, got one hell of an intimate show.

First up was drum machine powered, grind duo My Nation Underground from West Philly.
