It really doesn’t get much better for H20 fans than Sunday night’s intimate performance at The Barbary in Philadelphia. These NYC hardcore veterans ripped through a crushing set featuring tracks from their first album and songs from their new covers album, Don’t Forget Your Roots, which hit streets Nov 15 via Bridge 9 Records.
This special record release show was hosted by Philly Hardcore Shows and marked a rare occasion to see the band in such a small, but awesome setting. H20 has been a hardcore mainstay since their inception 1995 and influenced countless bands that have followed in their wake. On Don’t Forget Your Roots, H20 cover classic tracks by Warzone, Dag Nasty, Bad Brains, Madball and more. It’s great to see a band that has played such an integral role in the history of hardcore now paying homage to some of their own influences. It’s hard to believe the band has been annihilating stages around the world for almost 20 years, as Sunday’s performance found the band as energetic and driven as ever.
Baltimore hardcore practitioners Praise hit the stage with the quickness and tore through a smoking set playing several songs from their growing.changing.healing record and their new single “Two Songs,” which the band is currently offering for free download at MediaFire.
The show was kicked off by new straight edge hardcore band Beware, which features members of Mother Of Mercy, Stick Together, Daylight and Black Feathers. Beware had no trouble getting the crowd amped with their classic youth crew style themes. Our friends at Pizza Friends blog recently featured their 2011 Demo, so be sure to check them out for more info and download links.
