Rowdy, six-piece Norwegian rock band, Kvelertak recently ripped through Philadelphia’s Underground Arts venue with Cancer Bats, Black Tusk, and Philly’s own Ladder Devils.
Kvelertak are currently supporting their second full-length album, Meir, which hit streets in March via Indie Recordings on vinyl, Roadrunner Records worldwide, and Sony Music Scandinavia. With an unhinged stage performance three guitars strong, the band has maintained a relentless tour schedule over the past several years. Meir was recorded and produced by renowned engineer Kurt Ballou at his GodCity Studio over the winter. The album topped the Norwegian charts at #1.
Rounding out this tour package was none other than Canada’s Cancer Bats, who are also supporting their latest on Metal Blade Records, Dead Set On Living, which sees the band utilize far more rock influences than their more hardcore punk approaches of the past. The new tunes translated into a flurry of excitement as the crowd reacted accordingly. Relapse Records recording artists Black Tusk made their third stop to Philly this year as they begin work on the follow-up to 2011’s Set The Dial and support recent teaser EP, Tend No Wounds. Another band to keep an eye on as we head into the latter part of 2013.
Last and certainly not least, Philly’s own Ladder Devils, who are supporting their latest full-length, Nowhere Plans, on Brutal Panda Records set the night in motion with a poignant blend of catchy noise rock anthems.
