Here is the second half of our special edition, double-feature, of notorious column Philly House Shows! We bring you vol 2 of The Blast Beat Be-Header grindcore showcases by local promoter Logan Neubauer. If you missed vol. 1 at International Waters in West Philly, check it out. Vol. 2 was indeed the last show to be held at one of South Philly’s favorite basement venues, The Bordello and god damn was it a fitting farewell. Mr. Neubauer’s band, a brutal 2-piece grindcore outfit, Backslider kicked things off. Unfortunately we were running on punk-rock-time and showed up about 20 minutes late and rolled in just as they were wrapping up. No worries because we will be catching up with Backslider very soon for their own feature in our Philly House Shows column. We were able to get setup just in time to be brutalized by South Florida’s grind champs, Shitstorm. Flier described these guys as “0% fucking around” and they hit the nail right on the head. These guys stepped out and decimated the crowd for a awe-inspiring 20 minutes. New Mexico’s Noisear picked up right where Shitstorm left off, with an absolutely pummeling set that was extended by pleas from the crowd to continue. Noisear’s first show in Philly, and hopefully not their last. We ran a full-feature interview with Noisear a few months back. Check it, if ya missed it. Up next was Australia’s The Kill. And for lack of a better pun, they killed it with a blistering set of some of the meanest grindcore Australia has to offer. Local grinders Chainsaw to the Face were definite crowd pleasers who rushed through a smoking set as the police let their presence known shortly before they hit the stage.
