Philly’s own Sheer Mag recently celebrated the band’s sophomore effort, Need To Feel Your Love, to a near-sold out crowd at the Union Transfer venue with BTS’s Dante Torrieri on hand, having captured and delivered the stunning set of photos feature below.
Sheer Mag have further solidified their place as one of the area’s leading rock pioneers with NPR‘s Lars Gotrich hailing this latest effort stating, “Sheer Mag knows the history of rock ‘n’ roll like the back of the members’ leather-gloved hands. Over three EPs since 2014, these Philly punks have shown a deep affection for ’70s rock, born in dirty riffs that are at once joyous and raw. There’s no mistaking the pedigree, from the Thin Lizzy and AC/DC patches sewn onto their jackets. But there’s a thin line between imitation and understanding, and with its debut album Need To Feel Your Love, Sheer Mag prove to be rock ‘n’ roll scholars who can map history onto present concerns.”
Taking their name from the Arabic word for ‘forbidden’, NYC’s Haram delivered a solid set of high-energy punk that bridges American style hardcore with Middle Eastern musical influences in a refreshing way. Certainly, a highlight of the evening and a band to keep an eye on as we head into 2018. The show was rounded out with support by Dark Thoughts & Purling Hiss.
