Photos: Surgeon, Escuela, Suspect, Destruct Device live at KFN

Surgeon, Escuela, Suspect, and Destruct Device recently lit up Philly’s Kung Fu Necktie venue with a regional showcase that proved to be a super Tuesday of rad music.

Philly four-piece grind unit Destruct Device featuring Matt Miller of Catharsis on guitar, set the evening in motion, providing a raw output fusing elements of thrash, skate punk, and metal into a fury of catchy and delightfully brief songs. New Jersey’s Suspect hit the stage next as the band features ex-members of long standing East Coast punk rock outfit Heartfelt Discord. The seasoned unit proceeded to hold up the punk rock end of the spectrum proudly.

Ithaca, NY’s three-piece powerviolence crew Escuela dug in for a punishing set of raw grindcore and stubborn hardcore punk riffs complimented by singer Katerina Economou’s unwavering ferocity. Headlining the event was Philly black metal frontrunners Surgeon who brought the thunder of melodic explosions to the crowd. Solid evening from front to back.
