Reign Supreme were joined by Harm’s Way and locals No Lessons Learned and Sawed Off for a performance at the O’Reilly’s venue in Philadelphia, as the band shot a new video for an unspecified track from their Mediaskare Records debut, Sky Burial. This forthcoming 7-song EP was recorded last November with producer Will Putney and will be released this summer with heavy touring to follow from Philly’s hardcore mainstays. This show saw many fresh faces and lots of young hardcore energy that translated into ruckus dancing and few black eyes and bloody lips, but it’s safe to say good times were had by all.
Reign Supreme have been testing the waters with a few new tracks during several regional performances over the past few months. From these glimpses into the band’s forthcoming release, we can hear Reign Supreme testing the waters with some new musical approaches that incorporate new focuses of speed and metallic punk offerings to compliment their notoriously heavy-handed hardcore approach. We will be sitting down with Reign Supreme singer and founder Jay Pepito in the coming days, so be a the lookout for a full-feature interview coming your way soon.
Chicago’s Harm’s Way were a welcomed addition to the bill as the band saw a whirlwind year in 2011 with the release of their latest recorded effort Isolation, which was mentioned in several of our year-end contributor’s top lists and some of the most renowned figures in hardcore. Harm’s Way trekked across the globe in support of Isolation with likes of Terror, The Acacia Strain, Nails, and Rise and Fall, to name just a few, continuing to hone their vicious live set. This is another band to keep an eye on 2012.
Local hardcore outfit, No Lessons Learned have been picking up steam in recent weeks with a fresh and authentic blend of old-school hardcore vibes. The band recently threw up a 4-song EP on their bandcamp profile. Be sure to be on the lookout for these up-and-comers on several area shows in the coming months. Harvcore recording artists, Sawed Off zipped in from Perkasie, PA to open the night’s festivities and quickly got the floor moving with their poignant blend of hardcore.
We’ve included links to all of the guilty parties, so be sure to investigate further is hardcore tunes are your jam.
