South Philly’s Emoda Gallery played host to a raucous metal bill featuring DC’s doomy death metal quintet ILSA and Denver’s thrashing metal quartet, Speedwolf, with local support provided by Backslider and Infernal Stronghold. One of the best underground shows we’ve hit in sometime, as all the bands put in blistering performances. Backslider and Infernal Stronghold represent some of Philly’s finest metal practitioners and both will be featured on this year’s Maryland Death Fest, where they will share the stage with some of the biggest names in the worldwide metal community. Backslider are just wrapping up a short West Coast Tour before heading back for some additional East Coast dates including a May 23rd performance with Dropdead and Nasum in Philadelphia on their way to MDF.
ILSA is riding high having just announced signing to A389 Records with their infectious blend of mind-numbing doomy death metal offerings that were embraced with open arms in Philadelphia. Speedwolf is currently trekking across the US by way of Denver and absolutely brought the roof down at the Emoda Gallery.
We’re not going to get over-wordy on you, as we know you are here for the pictures. We’ve included links and listening samples of all of the guilty parties and encourage you to dive deeper into these four great up-and-coming metal bands you’ll want to keep an eye on in 2012.
Without further ado..
