Sweden’s Terrible Feelings rolled through Philly’s Kung Fu Necktie venue last week as part of their East Coast tour where they met up with area bands Sickoids and Moon Women.
Terrible Feelings are currently supporting their most recent release and first full-length, Shadows, which hit streets in April via Sabotage Records (Europe) and Deranged Records (US). This follows a slew of 7” and EP releases that have created quite a buzz throughout underground punk rock circles.
Terrible Feelings craft a catchy punk rock sound that doesn’t lack in the integrity department. Standout aspects of the band include the execution of a barrage of interlaced guitar tones and intricate distortions that draw from a wide corpus of music history, ranging from surf to grunge and punk. Combine this with the use of a wide array of instrumentation and memorable lyrical deliveries, and you have a recipe for success.
This recent showcase found the band sharp and energetic as they drew a hearty gathering of supporters half-way around the world. Definitely a band to keep an eye on as we head into 2013.
Local punk band, Sickoids (members of Witch Hunt, Government Warning, Direct Control), also put in a standout performance as they continue to support a new self-titled LP that recently saw the band tour the US in full. With a sound that dips into the glory days of hardcore punk, this is one Philly band that knows how to delivery without the frills. The band breathes new life into a classic and familiar sound that Philly locals can’t get enough of.
Philly newcomers Moon Women, rounded out the bill for what proved to be solid evening of eclectic tunes. We know you are here for the pictures, so without further ado..
