Saturday June 11th we ventured to Philadelphia’s M Room to see a couple local bands and a few old-school hardcore grimy mother fuckers. Verbal Abuse with their intense energy and Dayglo Abortions obscene disregard of anything resembling normal.
Sadly, Dayglo Abortions was deported a few days before the show. We don’t have information on the reasons yet, but we are interested to know. Dayglo Abortions is no stranger to the courts and maybe they’ll end up back in the US at some point, for now they you will need to travel to the Great White North if you want to get your panties in a bunch listening to such classics as “Fuck My Shit Stinks”, “Here Today Guano Tomorrow”, “Homophobic Sexist Cokeheads” or “Vince Neil.”
Sit back, relax, grab some dead fetus and enjoy the photos…
Explosive Head – Philly rock and roll band with punk influences. From Explosive Head’s facebook: “Made up of members of Son Of A Gun and Thee Minks, Explosive Head refuses the stereotype while evoking the days when 70’s rock n’ roll reigned supreme, fusing Rolling Stones, Destroy All Monsters, Dead Boys, New York Dolls and even Ian Hunter into a fiery sonic boom. Playing with the likes of Ben Vaughn, Stupidity, The Friggs, Mondo Topless and Foxy Contin, Explosive Head will detonate your brain and rock your face off.”
The Heels – THE HEELS were formed in 2006 by 3 of the founding members of legendary Philly hardcore punk band THE PAGAN BABIES (not the one from Cali with Courtney Love and Kat Bjelland). THE HEELS sound mixes from old school hardcore punk and rock and roll. Back in the Day is a tribute to the Philly hardcore past and brings back some good (and bad) memories.
Verbal Abuse – 30 years of playing faster, louder and harder and these guys could teach a course on stage presence and energy. Amazing how good they still are. Classics like “Disintegration,” “Free Money,” and “I Hate You,” sounded incredible. I’m glad I made it out to this show.
