Fans of doom metal got a tasty treat last week as Oregon’s YOB and Dark Castle passed through the Kung Fu Necktie in Philadelphia’s North Liberties neighborhood. Blow The Scene photographer Dante Torrieri was on hand to snag some amazing shots.
Dante had this to say about the show:
This was a very personal show for me. I’ve known Yob for close to ten years now, I first meet them when I was out on tour with a local Portland OR black metal band (that has since faded from almost all memory but mine). It was my first time as a roadie and Yob were nothing but helpful and super nice guys, also being a former Portland citizen they played the house I used to run often. So now, anytime Mike comes around, I always find a reason to see whatever project he is working on. It was sad that Travis (the drummer on their recorded albums) couldn’t make the tour, but Rob from Dark Castle was picking up the slack on this tour playing two 45 minuet sets a night. Dude is a beast behind the kit. It was nice getting to know Dark Castle who are now Portland residents themselves. All and all the show was for me worth missing the final night of the Souls to enjoy the company of old friends.
Without further ado, here is the show in pictures by Dante Torrieri of Useless Rebel Photography.
