O’Death and The World/Inferno Friendship Society Announce Fall US Tour!

World Inferno Friendship SocietyIn support of upcoming and recently released material from two of New York’s most formidable abstract and forward thinking punk acts of the past decade, Brooklyn’s Appalachian freak-out O’Death and orchestral carnival / cabaret punks The World/Inferno Friendship Society have announced plans to embark on a month-long full US tour taking place this Fall.

Taking both bands to cities across the country, O’Death will be supporting their new album Outside out now on Ernest Jenning Record Co., while World/Inferno will be propagandizing the country with their new Turnstyle Comix #2 comic book + 7″ due out this Winter on Silver Sprocket Bicycle Club.

In the past, O’Death has been most visible via their chaotic live shows, but they were determined to add more depth to their catalog with latest recorded effort Outside. “I think we were interested in making something more personal, and trying to write songs that are melodically engaging and not just the crazed ravings of mad men,” says Rogers-Berry of the process behind Outside.

O’Death recorded the album over a two-month period, easily the longest they’ve ever spent on a production. Producer/Engineer Billy Pavone, who was also behind the board for O’Death effort Head Home, once again came along for the ride. The extended recording time allowed the band to write in studio, as well as cultivate the organic noise for the record in an intimate setting. As Pavone observed, “Creating the album in the recording, and not in the mix, was a leap of faith for me. It was challenging to let go and allow the album to breathe a bit, and be its own creation– unique and very different from some of the sounds we hear so often in the world of digital manipulation.

World Inferno Friendship Society – “The Disarming Smile”

In an era when punk can often feel super homogenized, New York City mainstays The World/Inferno Friendship Society, with their anarcho-cabaret-punk-jazz-insanity have just dropped some new wax that can only be acquired directly from the band on their current Euro tour or from our the Silver Sprocket mail-order. No more will be made ever.

Meanwhile, cartoonist Mitch Clem (Nothing Nice To Say, My Stupid Life) and his water-coloring cohort Nation Of Amanda return with an original 40+ page comic book illustrating some of World/Inferno’s craziest road stories!
