Many degrees of metal enjoyed a solid representation as Skeleton Hands, Midnight Eye, Dirt Worshipper, and Surgeon brought the collective thunder to renowned Northern Liberties venue, Johnny Brenda’s as BTS Senior Photographer Dante Torrieri was on hand to capture the evening in photos for your viewing pleasure.
Here’s the quick skinny on these up-and-comers:
Skeleton Hands take a nod from 70s legends Black Sabbath and offer an engaging and infectious live presence that always makes for great photos. This Philadelphia area band has begun work on a new LP slated for 2014 that we will be keeping an eye on. Richmond’s Midnight Eye are currently supporting a new 3-song effort, entitled Nightmonger that was recorded with Kevin Bernsten (Full Of Hell, Old Lines) at Developing Nations Studios in Baltimore earlier in 2013. Philly’s Dirt Worshipper offered up the heaviest riffs of the evening with a sturdy mix of blackened thrash as they continue to support a self-titled 2013 release. Last and certainly not least, Philly’s own Surgeon proceeded to melt faces with a blend of metal that Decibel Magazine described by stating “this proggy collective combines the oft-impenetrable, old-school trundle of Slough Feg with the jovial thrash of Ghoul” as they too support a new release. Be sure to check out a sample of the new LP Chemical Reign below.
