Kvelertak

Kvelertak is a Norwegian band from Stavanger.
Catchy and immediate, pretentious and fun, yet brutal and totally super-necro, black metal- and thrash-inspired punk rock, with a pop-oriented approach. That is one of many ways to describe the unique and totally unheard of, irresistible brand of hard-hitting, metal flavoured rock’n’roll that is Kvelertak – one of few bands that dare tread the untouched waters of Black Metal, the (un)holy grail of Norwegian pop-culture.
This five-piece from Stavanger off the west coast of Norway has been stirring things up in their hometown the last year, thus gaining a substantial reputation as Stavanger’s most ridiculous liveband, with their mighty entertaining shows and the groovy blend of rawk, tailor-made for stage-performance.
But things are starting to happen elsewhere as well, as several larger record labels have knocked on their door. Additionally they have gained airplay on P3 (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation), on Tinitus, and a prestigious spot at the Øya-festival.
Metal-heads love their furious energy, punkrockers love their punky drive and attitude, and the rest love the extreme approach to good old catchy rock’n’roll. And if you think that sounds a bit over-the-top, have a listen to the DIY demo Westcoast Holocaust, and consider yourself challenged to disagree.
