Last Sunday August 12, From Ashes Rise, Victims, Death First, Stockpile, and Sickoids broke off a very special This Is Hardcore Fest after-show in honor of local Philadelphia promoter Greg Daly's 34th birthday. Local d-beat practitioners Sickoids and Stockpile, who both share Witch Hunt's ex-drummer, gave the early-comers a blast of adrenaline to kick off the night. NYC's Death First put in a impassioned performance with their trademark blend of d-beat-meets-NYC-hardcore. For those who did not get in on This Is Hardcore Fest 2011 tickets in time, Sweden's Victims, along with Portland's legendary crust punk outfit From Ashes Rise, brought the house down in Philadelphia for the second time in one day. We're sure both bands slept well ...

If you can only make it to one music festival this summer, The Maryland Deathfest is definitely THE music fest of the year. The lineup is simply utterly fucking ridiculous.
Rather than trying to cover ALL of the amazing acts that will be hitting the stage in one news posting, we will be featuring a band a week that is simply a Do NOT miss.
We're kicking off our Do Not Miss special with one our all time favorites - FROM ASHES RISE.
Formed over 13 years ago in a Nashville Tennessee basement, From Ashes Rise helped to mold a niche d-beat punk sound with bands such as Tragedy and His Hero is Gone that put an American hardcore ...
From Ashes Rise is an American hardcore punk band, formed in Nashville, Tennessee in the mid-'90s. They helped define the gloom-heavy thrash sound attributed to groups like His Hero is Gone and Tragedy. Along with Tragedy, the group then relocated to Portland, Oregon.

The band split up in Fall 2005 after doing a tour with the legendary UK band, the Subhumans. The statement issued by their record label Jade ...
