The Aggrolites ripped through through Philly’s Union Transfer last Friday in support of their latest LP, Rugged Road, which marked the band’s first release for Young Cub Records earlier this year. Fans swooned over the band’s trademark fusion of reggae, soul, grit and determination. The Aggrolites were supported by Roots of Creation who brought their own amalgamation of reggae mixed with roots-rock and added flavors of dub, electronica and dance. Their latest release, RoC Live Volume 2, can be sampled below. The bill was rounded out by Philly’s purveyors of good vibes, The Snails. The band wasted no time getting audience moving to their upbeat tempos and unique blend of rockabilly, raggae, soul, and 50s rock and roll. Formed from the ashes of two prominent LA ska/reggae bands, The Vessels and The Rhythm Doctors, The Aggrolites broke onto the scene in 2002 and have garnered a cult-like following of fans that stretch across almost every imaginable demographic of music lover. From appearances on Nickelodeon’s Yo Gabba Gabba!, to collaborations with Tim Armstrong and Rancid, The Aggrolites have released five full-length works that have all received a significant amount of critical admiration.
