Epitaph has announced the Re-release of Refused‘s 1998 classic hardcore album The Shape of Punk to Come in a 3-disc, deluxe edition to hit streets June 8, 2010. Haling from Umeå, Sweden and formed in 1991, Refused saw 5 E.P.s and 3 Full-length releases before their breakup in 1998 which was documented in the DVD release of “The Refused Are Fucking Dead.,” chronicling Refused‘s last year as a band. Although Refused were only active for 7 years, their music has maintained a far reaching impact across many music genres such as punk, hardcore, and alternative. The Shape of Punk to Come is arguably cited as “the most influential hardcore album of all time,” by many critics and music fans throughout the world. Song “New Noise,” became the unofficial anthem for the album even drawing praise from Rage Against The Machine‘s Tom Morello as he called it, “one of the great rock jams of all time” (Filter, 2006). The Deluxe Edition of The Shape of Punk to Come will be released as a three disc collection that will include the essential full-length CD, a never-before-released mind-blowing live album and the classic yet bittersweet documentary Refused Are Fucking Dead on DVD.
