A Life Once Lost Philly Summer residency Gallery
Philadelphia metal titans A Life Once Lost kicked off a month-long residency at the Kung Fu Necktie venue in Philly’s Fishtown neighborhood on July 2nd as the band debuts new material from an untitled forthcoming full-length on renowned French label Season Of Mist. The band will be performing in house every Monday through the end of July having just finished up recording at Planet Red in Richmond, VA with owner and producer Andreas Magnusson (The Black Dahlia Murder, Impending Doom).
A Life Once Lost fans really could not ask for much more than what transpired at one of Philly’s best intimate venues. Kung Fu Necktie is the perfect small venue, with a surprisingly solid soundsystem that the house hands are not afraid to let rip. With that said, A Life Once Lost put in a performance that was chock full of the kind of energy you would expect from a band about to debut a new full-length a leading underground label. A few new tracks were sprinkled in amongst a barrage of fan favorites.
Main support for the evening included Moorpark, CA’s doom-riddled purveyors of blistering sludge, Black Sheep Wall. The band is currently on tour supporting it’s sophomore release No Matter Where It Ends, which hit streets in March via Season of Mist.
Black Sheep Wall took command of the stage and audience with an immediate and sustaining barrage of drop-tuned sludge and metal that upped the intensity of the evening. Definitely a band we’ll be keeping an eye on.
A Life Once Lost was also joined by supporting acts Chimpgrinder, and Sleeping In Gethsemane who rounded out the opening night of this summer residency.
