Formed from the ashes of the renowned punk outfit Choking Victim, Leftover Crack have been leaving a trail of destruction since 1998 with insane performances throughout the world and various releases on some of the most well-respected labels in the underground scene including Fat Wreck Chords and Jello Biafra‘s Alternative Tentacles. The Barbary was on fire by 830pm with fans crowd surfing and foaming at the mouth to be part of the action. Front man Stza Crack spoke of the untimely death of 22-year-old Oscar Grant who was shot and killed by an Oakland B.A.R.T. officer while handcuffed, laying face-down on the ground, as an introduction for their popular song “One Dead Cop,” which saw the crowd all but explode with intensity to the riffs that followed. Leftover Crack is a band with the rare ability to be both street punk hard and melodically sound, drawing from a vast array of influences while demolishing a venue with a 15+ song set now 15 years into their career. If this is a notion of things to come from Philly Hardcore Shows in 2012, we are in for a good year. We have an exciting double-feature photo gallery for you today. We had two gifted photographers at the event to give you two fantastic perspectives of a show that was more than deserving of such dense coverage. 2012 got kicked off with bang in the City of Brotherly Love as the now legendary NYC punk outfit Leftover Crack tore through The Barbary with support from Philly’s own Bucket Flush and Cop Problem. Show was sold out and at capacity early in the evening. Crusty d-beat practitioners Cop Problem wasted no time getting the pit moving with a blistering performance that set the tone for the evening. West Philly’s Bucket Flush picked up with an unhinged set that found fans chanting along as the temperature continued to rise before Leftover Crack hit the stage.
