Lucero and Lionize at Union Transfer Photo Gallery

Lucero - New Years Tour 2011Memphis, TN’s Lucero brought their patented country-flavored punk rock to Philly’s Union Transfer for an intimate performance for a near capacity crowd who rippled with the electricity of expectancy and enthusiasm as the final days of 2011 drew closer to an end.

Formed in 1998 and having toured relentlessly since 2001, Lucero is riding a wave momentum that they have created through years of hard work. With releases on scores of underground labels before signing to Universal Music Group in 08′, the band has become one of the most celebrated acts hailing from Memphis in recent years. Lucero is currently touring in support of their most recent album, 1372 Overton Park, which was released in 2010 while currently generating a buzz for their forthcoming LP, Women & Work, which is to be released via Dave Matthews‘ ATO Records in the Spring of 2012.

The bill was rounded out by genre bending reggae/rock band Lionize who have had quite the whirlwind year in 2011. The band released their fifth studio album, Superczar and The Vulture, on the Pentimento Music Company label in early December after spending the summer touring with Vans Warped Tour and a spotlight performance at the now legendary Bonaroo. December found the band touring the country in support of not only Lucero, but also the mighty Clutch. This is definately a band to keep an eye on as we head into 2011.
