In the World of metal music and horror movies it really doesn't get much more ridiculously awesome than San Antonio TX's annual Housecore Horror Film Festival hosted by Housecore Records. The World renowned festival just wrapped a third installment. This multi-day and multi-venue event saw an incredible first day line-up of bands that included sought-after acts Child Bite, Warbeast, EyeHateGod, Exodus, Superjoint, and the legendary King Diamond at the Aztec Theater in San Antonio, TX. It was a great night for grindcore and crust as French practitioners of ultra-fast grind, Department Of Correction hit Philly with Long Island's Mother Brain as part of the Obscene Extreme Festival Tour. This ground-shaking pairing was joined by Philly's own ear-drum decimators in Drones For Queens who completed this unholy trifecta.

This evening's top billing and Miami's own Torche recently confirmed an additional round of dates for their previously announced month-long fall European headlining tour starting this November. Having toured in Australia, New Zealand, North America, and Western Europe over the past year, this tour will see Torche bring their unique brand of doom metal and hard rock to Scandinavia and much of Eastern Europe.

North Carolina legends of political hardcore punk, Catharsis, plowed through Philly's Vox Populi performance space with a cast of heavy hitters including tour mates Die Young out of Texas, and rounded out by Philly's own Future/Primitive and Die Choking.

UK hardcore talents Violent Reaction, Arms Race, and Perspex Flesh ripped through Philly's DIY show space, Second Empire along with regional smashers Razorheads, Dopestroke, and Latex.

Swedish prog metallers, Opeth recently stormed Philly's Electric Factory venue along with In Flames and Red Fang rounding out the bill.
This co-headlining tour celebrated Opeth’s much awaited new record Pale Communion, which was released in August of 2014 via Roadrunner Records. The album was produced by the band’s very own Mikael Åkerfeldt and mixed by longtime collaborator and Porcupine Tree frontman/guitarist Steven Wilson. Brooklyn's metallic hardcore mainstays, Biohazard recently hit Philly's Voltage Lounge with a dense cast of supporting acts including Harm's Way, Homewrecker, Discourse, and Bottomfeeder for night of raucous performances courtesy of Philly Hardcore Shows.
Biohazard are reportedly working on a new full-length to follow 2012's Reborn in Defiance, which was the last recording to feature longtime vocalist/bassist Evan Seinfeld. In a recent interview, Billy Graziadei commented on the process saying, ""BIOHAZARD's not the type of band that says, 'Okay, we're gonna record next week.' We just keep on going, and when it's ready, it's ready."
