Conspirator TLA Phila 4.8.11 – Happy Birthday Brownie

Conspirator, consisting of The Disco Biscuits’ Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner, knocked the house down April 8th, at the TLA in Philadelphia for Brownie’s (Marc Brownstein) birthday. The brand new tour features RAQ’s Chris Michetti on lead guitar, and this particular show guest starred The New Deal’s Darren Shearer handling the drum kit.
Younger Brother, Simon Posford and Benji Vaughan’s electronic rock sound-scape, opened in full effect for the brotherly birthday bash. Younger Brother’s smooth transitions, and refined e-rock sound, brought a packed Friday-night-TLA-crowd out of work week frustrations and into optimal concert mode. One could not have chosen a better opener for Marc Brownstein’s birthday show, considering Brownie’s history of being one-time regular bassist for Younger Brother. We’re sure the backstage party antics reached truly amazing levels.
Philly’s own turntable princess, Suga Shay, kept the dance floor hot between Younger Brother’s performance and Conspirator‘s epic entrance. Hosted by Khdafi Dub, Shay’s skill on the 1s and 2s had hardcore dubstep fans and new listeners bouncin’.
Upon Conspirator‘s entrance, the crowd erupted into a beautiful drunken rendition of “Happy Birthday” for Mr. Marc Brownstein. “Happy Birthday Brownie!” could be heard, shouted every ten to fifteen minutes from within the TLA. Good vibes like these make for amazing music, and Conspirator was ready to hold up their end of the equation.
As a Biscuits fan myself, I usually rate a show by how long it takes for Brownie to shed his assortment of track jackets. Needless to say, the Def Jam outer layer disappeared rather quickly during this set. Magner, Brownstein, Michetti, and Shearer all exuded high spirits during this stop on Conspirator‘s new tour, showing big smiles and a lot of stage activity. Thank you gentlemen for a fantastic show!
